Privacy Policy
Who is responsible
Nicolas Baldovino, based in Colorado, United States, operates Yester (yester.ai) and is responsible for the practices described here. Email hi@yester.ai for privacy questions or requests. This policy describes the current free app, not hypothetical paid features. It explains our practices; it is not blanket consent to marketing, tracking or unrelated uses.
Account information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, depending on that provider and your choices, your name, email and profile image information. Apple may give us a private relay email address instead of your own. Supabase processes authentication and stores account records, including sign-in-related metadata. We use this information to authenticate you, display your account and associate your saved stories and feedback. We do not receive your Apple or Google password. Session credentials are stored on your device to keep you signed in; native sessions use encrypted storage and a device key, and the web version uses browser storage.
Saved stories, preferences and requests
Saved-story records are linked to your account in Supabase and cached on your device. Appearance and other local app state are stored on the device. The app sends content identifiers, selected filters and your app language to our backend to retrieve stories and images in that language. To understand how Yester is used and improve it, the app also sends usage events, such as stories opened or finished, searches, time spent in the app and settings changed, together with a random identifier created on your device. These events do not include your name, email or advertising identifier, are not used for advertising and are not combined with data from other apps. Our hosting and delivery providers receive network information such as IP address, request time and user-agent or device information as part of delivering and securing the service. Signing out does not erase every local cache. Historical content in the shared catalog is separate from private account records.
Feedback
If you submit Feedback, we store your message, account identifier, submission time, platform (iOS, Android or web) and app version in Supabase. We use these records for support, corrections, abuse prevention and product improvements. They are not publicly visible. The form does not automatically attach screenshots, your reading history or passwords. Do not include sensitive information. Feedback is not automatically sent to Gemini. Authorized operators can review it in our administrative tools; there is no public feedback feed.
AI-assisted editorial work and external sources
Historical editorial workflows may use Google Gemini to research, draft or translate content before publication. These workflows are distinct from Google account sign-in. The feedback form and bookmark functions do not send your messages or saved-story list to Gemini. Opening a source, license or other external link connects you to a third-party website, which may collect information under its own policy. Some external media requests may also disclose your IP address and request information to the receiving provider. Source links are not an endorsement of those providers’ privacy practices.
How information is shared
We use Supabase for authentication, database and storage, Google for sign-in and editorial AI services, PostHog for product analytics, and hosting or content-delivery services to operate Yester. Providers process the information needed for their functions under their applicable agreements. We may disclose relevant information when legally required, to protect people or the service, or in connection with a lawful transfer of the service with appropriate notice and protections. We do not sell personal information or use the current app for targeted advertising. This release does not request access to contacts, precise location, microphone or photo library for reading or submitting feedback.
Storage, retention and security
We use access controls, authenticated requests and encryption mechanisms to help protect information, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate; their laws may differ from yours. Account and saved-story records are retained while needed to provide your account. Feedback and operational records are retained as needed to investigate and resolve issues, protect the service and meet legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified. Backups and provider security logs may persist for their applicable retention periods. A fixed automated retention schedule is not yet enabled; we review records and deletion requests manually. Shared historical articles and properly de-identified information may remain after an account is removed.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can remove saved stories in the app, change appearance, sign out and manage sign-in permissions in your Apple or Google account. To request access, correction, a copy or deletion of personal information, email hi@yester.ai, preferably from your account email. We may request proportionate verification before acting; never send your password. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful exception. Depending on your location and whether the law applies to Yester, additional rights may include an appeal or a complaint to a regulator. Send appeals to the same address with “Privacy appeal” in the subject. We do not penalize you for exercising applicable rights. You can delete your account in the app under Account management. Deletion removes your account, profile, saved stories and reading progress; feedback you sent is kept without your account identifier. You can also email us to request deletion.
Children and sensitive information
Yester is not designed as a service for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact hi@yester.ai so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate. This statement does not replace any parental-consent or age-assurance measures required by law. Do not submit medical records, financial credentials, government identifiers or other sensitive information through Feedback.
Policy updates
The date at the top identifies the latest revision. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes and obtain separate permission where required before introducing new data uses. Notifications are optional and off until you turn them on. Yester schedules them on your device, at the times you choose: a story of the day, and, the day after you read, the story that follows. To prepare them, the app asks our backend for the stories of the coming days. The app shows stories in English or Spanish, following your device or per-app language setting; some stories may appear in English until they are translated. The current app is free and does not collect payment-card information for a subscription.
